Photographic Time Capsule
Overview
In this two-part project, you will create a personal photographic time capsule that captures who you are right now and what you hope your summer will be like.
Using the composition, lighting, and storytelling techniques we have studied this year, you will create a polished digital layout in Adobe InDesign, Google Slides, or Canva.
Your final piece should look like a magazine spread, scrapbook page, or yearbook page rather than a simple collection of images.
Part 1: Who Am I Right Now?
Capture the moments, people, places, and objects that represent your life at the end of this school year.
Requirements
Include 5–7 original photographs that represent different aspects of your life. These can be photos you've taken in the past this year, or photos you would like to take this week.
Consider including:
A favourite place at school.
A friend or classmate (with permission).
An object that represents one of your hobbies or interests.
A detail or moment you think you might forget.
A self-portrait
A photograph that captures what this year has felt like.
Part 2: Bucket List: Summer 2026
Create a visual story of the summer you hope to have this year. Think about how you can use photography to communicate ideas, emotions, and aspirations. You can use photos from your phone
Requirements
Include 5–7 original photographs inspired by your summer goals. Ideas might include:
Adventure
Relaxation
Friendship
Travel or exploration
Creativity
Nature
Reading or learning something new
Stargazing or spending time outdoors
For each photo, include a 1–2 sentence caption explaining what it represents about your hopes or goals for the summer.
Final Design
Combine both sections into a cohesive digital presentation using Adobe InDesign, Google Slides, or Canva.
Think about visual storytelling, your personal voice and style, layout, and presentation. Remember, it should look like a magazine spread, scrapbook page, or yearbook page rather than a simple collection of images!!!
