Sustained Investigation
End year celebration of your shooting and editing skills.
Big Idea:
-
To create a body of related works that demonstrate a sustained and thoughtful investigation of a specific visual inquiry question.

To create a digital slide presentation of your best images and evidence of experimentation and process that shows your growth and discovery as it relates to your visual inquiry question.
Goal: This will be your chance to study and investigate what interests you most in photography. You will choose a singular subject, idea, theme that you would like to focus on.
Your photographic investigation must;
• grows out of a coherent plan of action or investigation
• be unified by an underlying idea that has visual and/or conceptual coherence
• be based on your individual interest in a particular visual idea
• be focused on a process of investigation, growth and discovery
• show the development of a visual language appropriate for your subject (composition, elements and principles of design)
• demonstrate an original vision and innovative ideas and risk taking.
Assignment
Start by creating an Idea Journal - this is important and will help guide your exploration
Here's what needs to be in your idea journal:

Your inquiry question(s)

Idea - What question is the photo or sequence of photos answering, and/or what are you saying with the photos?

How - How are you going to accomplish this idea?

Where - Where are some possible locations you can go for this idea?

When - When are you going to do this? Set a plan!

What - What props or equipment do you need for your idea?

Who - If applicable - Who will be there for your model or to help you out?

Include artist examples or inspiration
Final Presentation should include;
Your idea journal
Written evidence which identifies your inquiry.
Your visual investigation needs to be at least 20 slides and should include both final pieces and process slides which show your experimentation, discovery, learning and growth.
